Araucaria montana, the mountain araucaria, is a conifer species in the family Araucariaceae. It is native to New Caledonia and is not found elsewhere globally.

Description

Araucaria montana (Brongn. & Gris) is a member of the Araucariaceae family and is known by the common name mountain araucaria. This species is endemic to New Caledonia, where it grows naturally. It was first described in 1871. The genus Araucaria includes several species of coniferous trees, many of which are found in the Southern Hemisphere. Araucaria montana is one of the few species in the Araucariaceae family that is restricted to a single geographic region, making it a unique representative of its genus in New Caledonia.
