Agathis australis, known as kauri, is a conifer in the Araucariaceae family native to the northern part of New Zealand's North Island, typically found above 38°S latitude.

Description

Agathis australis (D.Don) Lindl., or kauri, is a coniferous tree belonging to the Araucariaceae family. It is primarily distributed in the northern regions of New Zealand's North Island. The species was first described in 1829 and is commonly found in areas north of 38°S. It is known for its presence in the Garden Route National Park and is part of the genus Agathis.
