Enterolobium gummiferum is a species in the genus Enterolobium, belonging to the Fabaceae family. It is native to several regions in Brazil, including the Northeast, North, Southeast, and West-Central areas, as well as Bolivia. The species was first described in 1919 under the authorship (Mart.) J.F.Macbr.

Its distribution includes the Northeast, North, Southeast, and West-Central regions of Brazil. The scientific name was published in 1919 by J.F.Macbr., based on earlier work by Mart.
