Arctic aster
Eurybia sibirica (L.) G.L.Nesom

Eurybia sibirica (L.) G.L.Nesom, known as Arctic aster, is an herbaceous perennial native to northwestern North America and northern Eurasia. It thrives in subarctic boreal forest open areas and diverse regional habitats. It resembles Eurybia merita but is distinguished by its higher elevation presence near the US-Canada border. The species was published in 1995.
Description
Eurybia sibirica is found in regions including Alberta, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Yukon, Alaska, and parts of Russia and Mongolia. It is commonly called Arctic aster in English and Siberian aster in other contexts. This species belongs to the Asteraceae family and is closely related to E. merita, though their ranges overlap only in high elevations near the US-Canada border. The plant is adapted to a wide range of subarctic environments and is part of the boreal forest ecosystem.
