The species has a wide distribution across Australasian, Oriental (Indomalaya), Palaearctic, and Pacific (Oceania) regions, including areas such as the conterminous 48 United States, Andaman Is., Borneo, Caroline Is., China Southeast, Malaya, Myanmar, Nansei-shoto, New Guinea, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, Taiwan, Thailand, and Victoria.

Description

Philydrum lanuginosum is part of the Philydraceae family and is characterized by its aquatic, herbaceous growth. The species was first described in 1788 and is commonly referred to as Woolly frog's mouth.
