Transvaal wild banana

Strelitzia caudata, known as Transvaal wild banana, is a species from the Strelitziaceae family native to southern Africa. It is found in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, the Northern Provinces of South Africa, and Eswatini. This plant is one of three large banana-like species in the Strelitzia genus, alongside S. alba and S. nicolai. It was first described in 1946 by R.A. Dyer.
Description
Strelitzia caudata is a plant species resembling a wild banana, occurring in the Chimanimani Mountains of Zimbabwe, extending south to Mozambique and into the Northern Provinces of South Africa and Eswatini. It is distinguished by its banana-like appearance and is part of the Strelitziaceae family. The species was formally published in 1946 by R.A. Dyer. Along with S. alba and S. nicolai, it is one of three large Strelitzia species native to southern Africa.
