Scybalium depressum (Hook.f.) Eichler is a species in the genus Scybalium, part of the family Balanophoraceae. It is native to regions in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, including the departments of Antioquia, Chocó, Valle del Cauca, and Nariño, as well as the Zona central. The species was first described in 1873.

Description

Scybalium depressum is a member of the Balanophoraceae family, a group of parasitic flowering plants. It is distributed across several regions in South America, particularly in the countries of Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Within Colombia, it is found in the departments of Antioquia, Chocó, Valle del Cauca, and Nariño, as well as the Zona central. The species was formally published in 1873 under the authorship of (Hook.f.) Eichler. This species contributes to the botanical diversity of the Neotropical region.
