Scybalium jamaicense, known as John crownose, is a species in the Balanophoraceae family. It was first described in 1832 by (Sw.) Schott & Endl. This plant is native to the Caribbean region, occurring in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico.

Scybalium jamaicense is a member of the Balanophoraceae, a family of parasitic flowering plants. The species is distributed across several Caribbean islands, including Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. It is one of several species within the genus Scybalium. The plant is commonly referred to as John crownose in English. The scientific name was formally published in 1832 by Schott & Endl., based on earlier work by Swartz.
