Kalmia buxifolia, known as sand-myrtle, is a flowering plant in the Ericaceae family. It is native to North America, with populations in Georgia, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The species has a disjunct distribution, occurring in three distinct regions: the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, the Coastal Plain of the Carolinas, and the southeastern Blue Ridge Mountains.

Description

Kalmia buxifolia (Bergius) Gift & Kron is a member of the Ericaceae family and is commonly called sand-myrtle. It is found in the mid-Atlantic and southeastern United States. The species is characterized by its fragmented geographic range, with populations in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, the Coastal Plain of the Carolinas, and the southeastern Blue Ridge Mountains. It was formally described in 2008.
