Kalmia hirsuta, known as hairy laurel, is a species in the Ericaceae family, native to the southeastern United States. It is found in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina, typically in open, sandy habitats such as savannahs, sand hills, and pine barrens at low elevations.

Description

Kalmia hirsuta, described by Walter in 1788, is a member of the Ericaceae family and is commonly called hairy laurel. It occurs in the southeastern U.S., specifically in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. This plant is typically found in open, sandy environments such as savannahs, sand hills, and pine barrens, at elevations under 100 m (330 ft).
