Description
Kalmia latifolia is one of ten species in the genus Kalmia. It was first described by Linnaeus in 1753. The plant is also referred to as mountain laurel or spoonwood. The species is found in various U.S. states and has historical significance in botanical literature. The type specimen is associated with post-1753 additions to Linnaeus's collection and has been the subject of taxonomic discussion among several authors.
