Aulacomnium turgidum, known as mountain groove moss, is a moss species in the family Aulacomniaceae. It occurs in Labrador, Québec, the southeastern and northeastern United States, as well as in Canada, Russia, Greenland, Norway, and Scotland. The species was recorded in England in 1878 but has not been found there since.

Description

Aulacomnium turgidum is a member of the Aulacomniaceae family and is native to several regions in the northern hemisphere. Its distribution includes parts of North America, such as Labrador and Québec, and extends to the southeastern and northeastern U.S. It is also present in Russia, Greenland, Norway, and Scotland. The species was last documented in England in 1878 and has not been observed there since. First published in 1827, it was named by (Wahlenb.) Schwägr. and is commonly referred to as mountain groove moss in English.
