Cephalotaxus mannii Hook.f.
Cephalotaxus mannii is a tree species in the family Taxaceae, native to southern China, northeast India, Laos, northern Thailand, northern Myanmar, and northern Vietnam. It can grow up to 20 metres tall. The species is widespread but has fragmented populations, primarily due to habitat loss from timber harvesting and the use of its bark and leaves for medicinal purposes.
Description
Cephalotaxus mannii, described by Hook.f. in 1886, is a member of the Cephalotaxaceae family. It is commonly known as Mann's Yew Plum. The species is distributed across regions including Assam, China South-Central, China Southeast, East Himalaya, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Tibet, and Vietnam. Its populations are fragmented and face threats from deforestation and the collection of plant parts for traditional medicine. Residual syntypes are preserved in several herbaria and digital repositories.
