Bruguiera gymnorhiza, known as Kankra, is a mangrove tree in the Rhizophoraceae family that typically reaches 7–20 metres in height, though it can grow up to 35m. It is commonly found on the seaward side of mangrove swamps, often alongside Rhizophora species. Its range extends from the Western Pacific through Indian Ocean coasts to the Cape Province in South Africa.

Description

Bruguiera gymnorhiza is a member of the Rhizophoraceae family and is commonly called Kankra. This mangrove species is typically 7–20 metres tall but can reach up to 35m in height. It is frequently found on the seaward side of mangrove swamps, often in association with Rhizophora. The species is distributed from the Western Pacific through the coasts of the Indian Ocean to the Cape Province in South Africa.
