It is distributed across various regions including Langkawi, the Andaman Islands, Bangladesh, Borneo, Hainan, India, Java, the Maldives, Myanmar, New Guinea, the Philippines, Queensland, and Sri Lanka. This species was first published in 1827 and is recognized for its presence in tropical coastal ecosystems.
