Cratoxylum formosum is a species in the Hypericaceae family, known commercially as 'mampat'. It is a flowering plant that can grow up to 35 metres in height, although it rarely reaches the size necessary for timber use.

Cratoxylum formosum is a member of the Hypericaceae family and is distributed across several regions including the Andaman Islands, Assam, Borneo, Cambodia, China South-Central, China Southeast, Hainan, Java, Laos, Malaya, Myanmar, the Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatra, Thailand, and Vietnam. The species was first described in 1874 by (Jack) Benth. & Hook.f. ex Dyer. Commonly referred to as 'mampat' in the timber industry, these trees can grow up to 35 metres tall but are seldom large enough to be harvested for timber.
