Orchis anthropophora (L.) All.
L'Orchis anthropophora, conosciuta come Ballerina, è una specie di orchidea europea appartenente alla famiglia Orchidaceae. Le sue fioriture rievocano una figura umana, con il capo formato da petali e sepali, e il tronco e gli arti sospesi rappresentati dai lobi del labellum. Si trova comunemente in praterie calcaree.
Descrizione
L'Orchis anthropophora è una pianta erbacea perenne distribuita in diverse regioni d'Europa, Nord Africa e Medio Oriente, tra cui Belgio, Italia, Francia, Germania, Grecia, Spagna, Portogallo, Albania, Algeria, Marocco e Siria. Cresce prevalentemente in ambienti erbosi calcarei, spesso in aree aperte o leggermente ombreggiate. Il fiore, che fiorisce in primavera, è noto per la sua forma distintiva che ricorda una figura umana, motivo per cui è chiamata anche Man Orchid in inglese. La specie fu pubblicata ufficialmente nel 1785.
