Swamp Banana

Musa campestris, known as the Swamp Banana, is a wild banana species found only on the island of Borneo. It is classified within the Musaceae family and the genus Musa. The species is part of the section Callimusa, a group characterized by specific morphological and genetic traits. With a diploid chromosome number of 2n = 20, Musa campestris is a genetically distinct member of the wild banana lineage. It was first described in 1902 by Beccari and remains a notable species in the study of banana biodiversity.
