Uvularia sessilifolia, known as Sessile Bellwort, is a native North American plant found in woodlands with varying soil moisture. It is part of the Colchicaceae family and was first described in 1753.

Description

Uvularia sessilifolia, or Sessile Bellwort, is a species of bellwort native to eastern and central North America. It is distributed across regions including Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Vermont-US, Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, and others. This plant thrives in woodland environments with either wet or dry soils. It belongs to the genus Uvularia and the family Colchicaceae. First described by Linnaeus in 1753, it is also known by common names such as sessileleaf bellwort, little merrybells, and wild oats.
