Rossioglossum splendens

Rossioglossum splendens belongs to the Orchidaceae family, one of the largest families of flowering plants. It is found in the Southwest of Mexico, where it grows in its natural habitat. The species was formally published in 1976 by Garay and G.C. Kenn., based on earlier work by Rchb.f. This orchid is part of the genus Rossioglossum, which includes other species with similar morphological traits. The Orchidaceae family is known for its diverse and often complex floral structures, and R. splendens is no exception, exhibiting the typical characteristics of orchid flowers. Its geographic distribution is limited to the Southwest of Mexico, where it is adapted to the local environmental conditions.
