Parrotia persica, known as Persian ironwood, is a deciduous tree in the Hamamelidaceae family. It is closely related to the witch-hazel genus Hamamelis. Native to the Caspian region of northern Iran and southeastern Azerbaijan, it is primarily found in the Alborz mountains, especially in Golestan National Park.

Description

Parrotia persica is a species in the Hamamelidaceae family and is native to the Caspian region of northern Iran and southeastern Azerbaijan. It is found in the Alborz mountains, particularly in Golestan National Park, where it is considered endemic. The tree is closely related to the witch-hazel genus Hamamelis. It was first described in 1831 by C.A.Mey. The species is also cultivated in regions such as Great Britain, Iran, the Transcaucasus, and Uzbekistan.
