Cryptogramma crispa (L.) R.Br., commonly called parsley fern, belongs to the family Pteridaceae. It is found in regions such as Forsand, Balestrand, Fjærland, Førde, Norway, as well as in Belgium, Walloon Region, Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Corse, Czechoslovakia, East European Russia, Finland, France, Føroyar, Germany, Great Britain, Iceland, Iran, and other areas. This fern species was first published in 1823. It is adapted to Arctic and alpine environments, producing distinct sterile and fertile fronds and playing a role as a pioneer species in acidic scree habitats.
