Pachyptera incarnata is a species of liana in the Bignoniaceae family, native to Brazil and French Guiana. It is characterized by solid, tetragonal stems and leaves with blades that are elliptic, obovate, or ovate-lanceolate in shape. The inflorescence is a congested raceme with light pink to pale purple, infundibuliform corollas. The specific epithet 'incarnata' refers to the corolla color described as 'of flesh' by Aublet.
Description
Pachyptera incarnata is a climbing plant with solid, tetragonal stems that may appear cylindrical when young. The leaves are discolorous or concolor, with blades that are elliptic, obovate, or ovate-lanceolate, and have an acute to caudate apex. The inflorescence is a short, congested raceme with pedicels ranging from 0.5 to 7.5 cm in length. The corolla is light pink to pale purple, infundibuliform, and measures 2.9 to 7.6 cm in length. The androecium includes two pairs of stamens of differing lengths, with villous anthers and 3-colpate, microreticulate pollen. The gynoecium is 3.0 to 5.0 cm long, with a cylindrical, glabrous ovary covered in lepidote and glandular trichomes.
