Azima tetracantha, known as Needle Bush or Bee Sting Bush, is a shrub in the Salvadoraceae family. It is found in coastal slopes and mangrove edges. The plant is used in traditional medicine, particularly in post-pregnancy treatments and 'karkidaka treatments' in Kerala. It was first described in 1783.
Description
Azima tetracantha is a shrub native to regions including Angola, India, and Madagascar, where it grows on coastal slopes and at the edge of mangroves. It is known locally in Angola as mussaca-zumbi. The plant has medicinal uses, particularly in post-pregnancy treatments and in 'karkidaka treatments' in Kerala, India. It is also referred to as Yashankala in Ayurveda. The species was first published in 1783 by Lam.
