Microseris scapigera, known as Native Dandelion, is a yellow-flowered daisy belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is a perennial herb native to New Zealand and Australia. In New Zealand, it is the only species of the genus Microseris, while in Australia, it is one of three species, alongside Microseris lanceolata and Microseris walteri. The plant is part of the tribe Cichorieae, which also includes chicory and dandelion.

Description

Microseris scapigera is distributed across New Zealand North and South, as well as the Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania, and Victoria. It was first described in 1866 and is recognized for its yellow daisy-like flowers. This species is distinguished by its perennial growth habit and its placement within the tribe Cichorieae of the Asteraceae family.
