Description

Lithops turbiniformis is a member of the Aizoaceae family, commonly known as the ice plant family. It belongs to the genus Lithops, which includes various species of living stones adapted to arid environments. The species was formally described in 1922 by N.E.Br., building on earlier taxonomic work by Haw. The plant is characterized by its compact, conical body that mimics the appearance of small stones, an adaptation to its harsh, dry habitat. It is typically found in southern Africa, where it thrives in rocky, well-drained soils. Like other Lithops species, L. turbiniformis stores water in its thick, fleshy leaves and produces small, daisy-like flowers during the growing season.
