Lithops optica (Marloth) N.E.Br. is a member of the Aizoaceae family, commonly referred to as the ice plant family. This species is indigenous to Namibia, where it grows in arid environments. The genus Lithops includes succulent plants that resemble small stones, an adaptation that helps them avoid herbivory. The species was formally published in 1922, based on earlier work by Marloth. It is one of several Lithops species found in southern Africa, particularly in regions with low rainfall and rocky substrates.
