Eucryphia lucida, known as leatherwood, is a tree or large shrub native to western Tasmania, Australia. It is used in horticulture and apiculture and was considered as an alternative to the Tasmanian blue gum for Tasmania's floral emblem. Previously described as E. billiarderi, this name is now a synonym.

Description

Eucryphia lucida (Labill.) Baill. is a member of the Cunoniaceae family and is found in the forests of western Tasmania. It is a notable species for its horticultural and apicultural uses. The species was once classified under the name E. billiarderi, which is now recognized as a synonym. The plant was promoted by the Tasmanian Branch of the SGAP as a potential replacement for the Tasmanian blue gum as the state's floral emblem. It was first published in 1869.
