Koelreuteria paniculata, known as the golden-rain tree, is a flowering plant in the family Sapindaceae. Native to China, Korea, and Outer Manchuria, it was introduced to Europe in 1747 and North America in 1763. It has since become a widely cultivated ornamental tree. The species was published in 1772 by Laxm.

Description

Koelreuteria paniculata is native to regions in China, Korea, and Outer Manchuria, with a documented presence in Japan since the 1200s. It is cultivated in various regions including Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Italy, Mexico, and others. Common names for the species include goldenrain tree, pride of India, China tree, and varnish tree. The tree is valued for its ornamental qualities and has been naturalized in several parts of the world.
