Physostegia godfreyi is a flowering plant in the Lamiaceae family, found exclusively in the southern Florida panhandle from Walton County to Wakulla County. It is a short-lived perennial that reaches up to 1.5 feet in height and thrives in open wet savanna habitats. The plant produces lavender purple flowers with darker veins and nutlets as fruit.
Description
Endemic to Florida, Physostegia godfreyi is part of the mint family and is known for its distinctive lavender flowers. It is commonly called Godfrey's false dragonhead or Appalachicola dragonhead. This species was first described in 1979 by P.D. Cantino. It is adapted to wet, open savanna environments and is a short-lived perennial.
