Description
Erythronium japonicum, also called Asian fawn lily, Oriental fawn lily, or Japanese fawn lily, is a member of the Lily family (Liliaceae). It is found in Japan, Korea, the Kuril Islands, Manchuria, and Sakhalin. This species was first described in 1854 by Decne. It is a spring ephemeral plant that thrives in woodland environments and is recognized for its pink flowers. The species is known by different names in local languages: zhūyáhuā (猪牙花) in Chinese, eolleji (얼레지) in Korean, and katakuri in Japanese.
