Description
Dolichandra hispida is a climbing plant with terete, striate stems covered in a hispid indument of eglandular and glandular trichomes. Leaves are bifoliolate, with ovate, obovate, or elliptic leaflets and a terminal tendril. The inflorescence is an axillary cyme with three flowers, or occasionally a single flower. The calyx is green, bi-lobed, and spathaceous with incurved apicules. The species is diagnosed by its purple ovary and calyx with curved apices, distinguishing it from related species like D. quadrivalvis. It is found in the Southeast, South, and West-Central regions of Brazil, as well as in Paraguay, Bolivia, and the Northeast of Argentina.
