Corynocarpus dissimilis

Corynocarpus dissimilis is a tree species in the family Corynocarpaceae, native to New Caledonia. It can grow up to 25 metres tall and is the only species in the genus Corynocarpus endemic to this region. The species was first described by William Hemsley in 1904. It is closely related to C. laevigatus and C. similis but is distinguished by its smaller leaves and flowers. This tree is commonly found in both humid and dry forests, with a maximum elevation of 1,200 m.
Description
Corynocarpus dissimilis is a member of the Corynocarpaceae family and is native to New Caledonia. It is a tall tree, reaching heights of up to 25 metres. The species is unique in the Corynocarpus genus for its New Caledonia endemism. It was first described by the British botanist William Hemsley in 1904. C. dissimilis is closely related to C. laevigatus and C. similis but is distinct due to its smaller leaves and flowers. It grows in both humid and dry forest environments, with the highest recorded elevation being 1,200 m above sea level.
