It is distinguished by four prominent peristome teeth on the sporophyte capsule. First described in 1801 by Hedw., it is found in regions including Labrador, Québec, Flanders, Vermont, and parts of Europe.

Description

Tetraphis pellucida is one of two species in the genus Tetraphis. It is characterized by its acrocarpous growth habit and the presence of four large, visible peristome teeth on the capsule of the sporophyte. The species was first published in 1801 by Hedw. and is native to a range that includes Labrador, Québec, TW, Flanders, SE, Vermont-US, NO, DK, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Belgium, and its regions such as Brussels-Capital Region, Flemish Region, and Walloon Region.
