Cochlospermum regium, known as yellow cotton tree, is a flowering plant native to the Cerrado tropical savanna of South America and has become common in Southeast Asia.

Description

Cochlospermum regium (Schrank) Pilg. is a member of the Bixaceae family and is native to regions including Brazil (Northeast, Southeast, and West-Central), Bolivia, Paraguay, and other parts of South America. It was first described in 1924. This species is also found in Southeast Asia, where it has become naturalized. It is commonly referred to as the yellow cotton tree due to its yellow flowers and cotton-like seed fibers.
