Zantedeschia albomaculata is a species in the Araceae family, commonly known as black-throat calla or spotted calla lily. The plant features hastate or sagittate leaves with white spots, and an inflorescence with a white spathe marked by a dark purple-brown blotch at the base and a yellow spadix. Description
Zantedeschia albomaculata, described in 1880, is a member of the Araceae family. The leaves are 6–18 in. long, with a wide open sinus and elongate-deltoid upper portion, marked with numerous white, semitransparent spots. The inflorescence consists of a 21/4–41/2 in. spathe, milk-white with a dark purple-brown blotch inside at the base, and a spadix that is shorter than the spathe. The plant reproduces through rhizomes or tubers, with new shoots emerging from nodes. It is distinguished from Zantedeschia aethiopica by smaller, thinner leaves with white speckling. Its distribution includes Africa, Belgium, the United States, and other global regions.
