Atlantic cedar
Cedrus atlantica (Endl.) Manetti ex Carrière

Cedrus atlantica, known as the Atlantic cedar, is a tree species in the Pinaceae family. It is native to the Rif and Atlas Mountains in Morocco and the Tell Atlas in Algeria. While most modern sources recognize it as a distinct species, some classify it as a subspecies of the Lebanon cedar. It was first described in 1855.
Description
Cedrus atlantica is a member of the pine family, Pinaceae, and is native to North Africa, specifically the Rif and Atlas Mountains in Morocco and the Tell Atlas in Algeria. The species is widely accepted as distinct by most modern botanical sources, though some consider it a subspecies of Cedrus libani (Lebanon cedar). The tree has been cultivated in various regions across Europe, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Portugal, as well as in parts of the Channel Islands, Ireland, and the Netherlands. It was formally published in 1855 under the authorship (Endl.) Manetti ex Carrière.
