Menyanthes trifoliata là loài thực vật có hoa duy nhất trong chi Menyanthes thuộc họ Menyanthaceae. Loài này phân bố rộng ở Bắc Mỹ và một số khu vực khác như Greenland, Labrador, Newfoundland, và nhiều tỉnh bang Canada. Tên tiếng Anh thường gặp là bogbean, marsh trefoil và buckbean.
Description
Menyanthes trifoliata, được mô tả khoa học lần đầu vào năm 1753, là loài duy nhất trong chi Menyanthes. Loài này thường mọc ở vùng đất ngập nước, đầm lầy và các khu vực ẩm ướt. Ở Bắc Mỹ, dạng địa phương thường được gọi là M. trifoliata var. minor Michx. Loài này có khả năng phân bố rộng, bao gồm các khu vực như Greenland, Labrador, Newfoundland, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Saint Pierre và Miquelon, cùng với một số khu vực thuộc vùng Nearctic, Oriental (Indomalaya) và Palaearctic.
