Loài này phân bố tự nhiên ở khu vực Nearctic và Neotropical, bao gồm các quốc gia như Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua và một số khu vực của Hoa Kỳ. Loài này được mô tả và công bố vào năm 1953 bởi Fassett.
