Nepenthes gantungensis, 2010 yılında S.McPherson, Cervancia, Chi.C.Lee, Jaunzems, Mey ve A.S.Rob tarafından tanımlanmış ve Nepenthaceae familyasına dahil edilmiştir. Bu tür, Palawan adasındaki yüksek rakımlarda sınırlı bir alanda bulunur.
