Myriophyllum alterniflorum พบในหลายพื้นที่ เช่น กรีนแลนด์ ลาบราดอร์ นิวฟาวด์แลนด์ แมนิโทบา นิวบรันสวิก โนวาสโคเชีย นอร์ทเวสเทิร์นเทรอร์ตอรีส์ ออนแทรีโอ คิวเบก ซัสแคตเชวัน แซงต์ปีแยร์และมิเกลอน อะซอเรส โปรตุเกส ซานโตเมอิเกล ใกล้กับ Nearctic และ Palaearctic รวมถึงฟลันเดอร์ส ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ และเวอร์มอนต์-สหรัฐอเมริกา ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์นี้ถูกตีพิมพ์ในปี ค.ศ. 1815
