Anthriscus sylvestris เป็นพืชสมุนไพรที่มีอายุ 2 ปี หรือมีอายุสั้นในปีที่สาม พบกระจายพันธุ์ในหลายพื้นที่ เช่น Greenland, Newfoundland, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, ประเทศในยุโรป เช่น โปรตุเกส เดนมาร์ค ฟินแลนด์ นอร์เวย์ สวีเดน ไอซ์แลนด์ และอื่น ๆ รวมถึงบางพื้นที่ในทวีปอเมริกาเหนือและแอฟริกาใต้ พืชชนิดนี้มีลักษณะคล้ายกับพืชในวงศ์เดียวกันอย่าง Daucus carota ซึ่งมีชื่อสามัญเดียวกันในบางพื้นที่
