Thelypteris palustris는 동부 북아메리카와 유라시아 전역에 분포하는 철쭉과의 다년생 관목다. 습지, 늪, 물가, 숲속 계곡 등 물이 많은 환경에서 자란다. 학명의 'palustris'는 '습지에 서식한다'는 의미를 담고 있다. 이 종은 Fagitana littera(습지 나비)의 유일한 기주식물이다.

Thelypteris palustris는 Thelypteris 속에 속하며, Thelypteridaceae(철쭉과)에 분류된다. 이 식물은 습지, 늪, 물가, 숲속 계곡 등 물이 풍부한 환경에서 자라며, 습지 생태계에서 중요한 역할을 한다. 학명의 'palustris'는 라틴어로 '습지'를 의미하며, 서식 환경을 나타낸다. 이 종은 Fagitana littera(습지 나비)의 유일한 기주식물로 알려져 있다. 분포 지역은 포르투갈, 벨기에, 알바니아, 알제리아, 미국 버몬트 주, 알타이 지역 등 매우 넓으며, 1834년에 Schott에 의해 발표되었다.
