Karwinskia humboldtiana는 Rhamnaceae과에 속하는 관목 또는 소형 나무로, 미국 텍사스 남서부와 멕시코 전역에 분포한다. 흔히 coyotillo, cacachila, Humboldt coyotillo로 알려져 있으며, 열매와 잎에 독성 물질인 퀴논류가 포함되어 있다.
Description
Karwinskia humboldtiana는 1832년에 기술된 식물로, 멕시코 중앙, 동부, 북동부, 북서부, 남동부, 남서부 지역과 텍사스, 베네수엘라에서 발견된다. 이 식물의 종자와 잎에는 eleutherin, 7-methoxyeleutherin, chrysophanol, β-amyrin과 같은 독성 화합물이 포함되어 있어 사람과 가축에 해로울 수 있다.
