Senecio vulgaris L. はキク科Senecio属の植物で、1753年に記載されました。この種は年間草で、パレアリク地域が原産地です。現在では、世界中の適した荒廃地に広く自然化しています。英語では groundsel または old-man-in-the-spring とも呼ばれます。Linnaean Plant Names and their Types では、この学名のタイプ標本に関する議論があり、Jeffrey が1992年にタイプの選定を行いました。
