Matteuccia struthiopteris

マテッキア・ストルチオプテリス（Matteuccia struthiopteris）は、オノクレア科マテッキア属に属する唯一の種である。学名は、古代ギリシャ語の「ストロウティオン（ostrich）」と「プテリス（fern）」に由来し、その葉の形がアヒルの首のように見えることに因む。分布はデンマーク、フィンランド、ノルウェー、スウェーデン、ベルギー、フランス、オランダ、イギリス、チェコ、アイルランド、アメリカ合衆国バーモント州などに及ぶ。
Description
この種は1866年にTod.によって発表された。ただし、学名のタイプ標本について、CopelandやBobrovはArduinoの標本をタイプとしているが、これはリンネが1753年以前に受け取ったものではなく、学名の原記載材料ではない。マテッキア属は単一の種からなるが、その特徴的なフリル状の新芽は、英語で「フィドルヘッド・フェルン（Fiddlehead Fern）」と呼ばれる。
