Ziziphus oenopolia (L.) Mill., known as jackal jujube, small-fruited jujube, or wild jujube, is a flowering plant in the Rhamnaceae family. It is distributed across tropical and subtropical regions of Asia and Australasia, including India, China, Southeast Asia, and parts of Australia. In India, it is commonly found in the deciduous forests of the southern regions.
Description
Ziziphus oenopolia is a species native to a wide range of tropical and subtropical areas, including the Andaman Islands, Assam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China (South-Central and Southeast), India, Laos, the Lesser Sunda Islands, Malaya, Myanmar, Nepal, New Guinea, the Northern Territory, the Philippines, Queensland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. The species was first described in 1768. It is commonly referred to as jackal jujube, small-fruited jujube, or wild jujube. In India, it is typically found in the deciduous forests of the southern part of the country.
