Yellow bluestem

Bothriochloa ischaemum is a globally distributed perennial grass in the Poaceae family. The species is divided into two varieties: var. ischaemum, which is native to Europe, Asia, and Africa, and var. songarica, native to Asia. Both varieties have been naturalized in various regions. Var. songarica is particularly problematic in Texas, where it has become an invasive species, displacing native grasses in large areas of central and south Texas. The species was first published in 1936.
