Xylosma terrae-reginae belongs to the genus Xylosma in the family Salicaceae. It is a rainforest tree species with a limited distribution, restricted to the eastern coast of Australia. Its range extends from Ballina in New South Wales to near Maryborough in Queensland. The species is typically found in coastal or relatively dry rainforest habitats, often on private property. Due to its limited distribution and lack of widespread recognition, it is considered endangered. It does not have a common name apart from the generic name Xylosma. The species was first described in 1935 by C.T. White and Sleumer.
