Description

Xylosma suaveolens is a member of the Salicaceae family, commonly known as the willow family. It is native to various island regions in the Pacific, such as the Cook Islands, Marquesas, Pitcairn Islands, Society Islands, Tuamotu, and Tubuai Islands. The species was formally described in 1786 by (J.R.Forst. & G.Forst.) G.Forst. It is part of the Xylosma genus, which includes a number of tropical and subtropical tree and shrub species. The distribution of Xylosma suaveolens is primarily within the insular ecosystems of the South Pacific.
